ABOUT ME

I was born on July 4, 1982, in Fort Smith, Arkansas alongside my twin brother Randy.  My mother, Cindy and Father, Randall. My parents divorced when I was about 8 years old. At that time my mother moved her, my brother and myself to Oklahoma City, OK. My father wasn’t around to help raise us and she needed a fresh start in a new city with the help of a few family members. She worked hard to provide for us, but a single mother with nothing more than a high school diploma and no financial support from my father made things difficult. Tack on the fact that I was born with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot, had open heart surgery at six months old and would have to manage this for the rest of my life and my twin brother being epileptic having a brain surgery and frequent seizures.

To say it was tough for my mother would be an understatement.  That said, she did the best she could with what she had.  She made sure we were always taken care of. All this aside, life growing up wasn’t always easy or fun. She didn’t have it easy, but she loved me and my brother more than I’ll ever know. I will always be grateful for everything she did and continues to do for us. Life then was full of hard times, fun times, everything in between, but most importantly, lots of love, and resolve.

As illustrated through pictures on this site, adventure, fitness, and my kids are a huge part of my life. I raced triathlons for about a decade in my early 20’s. Triathlon and endurance sports were a very large part of my life. The last seven years I have done a lot endurance mountain bike/road bike racing and Crossfit. I’ve also been able to support a Crossfit community in Edmond, Oklahoma called Crossfit 822.

I believe all these different modalities of fitness have played a part in teaching me how to be resilient and push through anything life throws my way. I will always say that an Ironman triathlon is your life in one day. The ups, the downs, the self-doubt, the desire to quit when shit goes wrong or feels too big, the ability to push through and get across the finish line despite all of that.

At a young age, I got married like many of us do. Unfortunately, things did not work out, and I decided to end things in 2019. While that didn’t last with my ex-wife, we have three incredible children who are the most important people on this planet to me.

My relationship with my children while living 450 miles away from them will be different, but it will be an opportunity for us to experience a less than ideal situation and grow together from it. As they are in my regular life, they will be a top priority for me while I’m away. Life will be different, and that’s ok.

Chelsea is the love of my life. She and I met in college where we worked together in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the time, we were both into each other, but I never made a move... Over the years we maintained brief contact, but the summer of 2022 (14 years without seeing each other in person) we reconnected. We were both single and I took a trip to see her in Colorado. The trip was originally planned to be a time for me to be alone, be introspective, be in the mountains on my bike, etc. I did that for a day and half and then planned to hang out with her over a few days which turned into five days. Those few days together turned into a relationship, quickly. One full of love, respect, and support more than I could have ever imagined.

We’ve experienced a lot during the first seven months of being together. I can honestly say we’ve experienced more than what most won’t in a lifetime. She sees me for me. She has had to defend her decision to be with me to others who call themselves friends or otherwise claim to care for her. Many have chosen to judge me and her being with me based on a mistake I made years ago… It’s so sad.

However, the two of us have finally found true love and we won’t let this bump in our road to a life with each other slow us down.
